Traumatic Pericarditis

CAUSE

Perforation of pericardial sac by foreign body originating from the reticulum.

 SYMPTOMS

Depression, toxemia, fever, inappetance, brisket edema, engorged jugular veins heart sounds muffled and fluid movement sounds.

 TREATMENT

The result of treatment is unsatisfactory but salvage of upto 50% of cases can be achieved by long term treatment with sulphonamide.

 CONTROL

By preventing traumatic reticuloperitonitis through management of environment and administration of reticular magnet.
