Biography

Dr. Uzma Farid Durrani is Tenured Associate Professor in Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of UVAS, Lahore. She earned her Ph.D degree  in Clinical Medicine. During Ph.D her area of research was sero-epidemiology of rabies in dogs and this research was carried out in College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota, USA and KS Rabies Lab., Kansas State University, USA under the ‘ International Research Support Initiative Program’ of HEC. So far she has produced 3 peer reviewed research manuscripts out of her Ph.D work in impact factor national and International journals. She has authored a ‘Manual of Radiographic Positioning in dog’ and handbook of Cat Behaviour Management’ in her credit. Dr. Uzma’s main area of expertise is surgery (soft and hard tissue) and medicine in clinical practices in the field of pet animals as well  as birds besides teaching under graduate and post graduate courses. She has also been involved in rabies awareness and prevention activities at various platforms.  She has supervised 20 postgraduate students and also has been serving as the part of supervisory committees of M.Phil  and Ph.D students. She is the member of national and international professional societies and associations including IVIS, ISCP, BSP. She is also the lifetime Foresight Team member of OIC’s standing committee on the Platform of COMSTECH, Islamabad.

Dr. Uzma has also played founding role in initiation and designing the first ever degree program in Pakistan titled ‘M.Phil in Pet Animal Practices’ that has successfully produced 9 batches of post graduates degree holders as pet animal practitioners and serving at national and internal level in both private as well as government sector.

She has also rendered her vast managerial services in Quality Enhancement Cell of UVAS and currently she is serving as Director Quality Enhancement Cell. Besides she is solely managing the implementation and expansion of Turnitin (anti-plagiarism) facility for the entire faculty of UVAS and CVAS.
