Awareness Seminar and Celebrations of World Milk Day/ World Food Safety Day 2026 at CVAS Jhang
World Milk Day 2026 was celebrated to raise awareness about the dairy sector, showcase recent industry developments, promote collaboration between academia and industry, and recognize the efforts of students and stakeholders in the livestock community. The program started with an awareness walk organized by the CVAS Dairy Club, highlighting milk’s nutritional benefits and the dairy industry’s role in the economy. The indoor proceedings began with Quranic recitation by Hafiz Tayyab, followed by a Naat by M. Usman, setting a respectful tone for the event. Dr. M. Zahid Farooq, Convener of CDC, welcomed the guests and explained the club’s vision, emphasizing how student involvement can drive progress in the dairy sector. Dr. Zia Ur Rehman then presented a DairyLac-sponsored documentary on modern dairy value chains and the company’s role in animal nutrition. This was followed by a technical session by Dr. Zarva Ahsan from UVAS Lahore on the “DairyLac YCM Mineral Mixture,” focusing on scientifically backed mineral supplementation to improve milk production and animal health. Dr. Adnan Haider, DDO Jhang, shared administrative insights and appreciated CVAS Jhang for bridging the gap between academic research and public sector livestock management. A spirited milk drinking competition was held for students, with M. Zain from the 6th semester emerging as the winner. All attendees were served flavored milk bottles to mark the occasion. From the pharmaceutical sector, Dr. Mehtab Humayun of Trust Pharmaceutical spoke on advancements in veterinary medicines and animal health, while Dr. Ali Haral, Business Development Manager at Trust Pharmaceutical, discussed market trends and innovation opportunities in the field. Dr. Tausif and Dr. Abrar provided updates from DRCCIB, and a short quiz was conducted to assess students’ knowledge of dairy and veterinary sciences. Progressive farmer Mr. Amir Gill shared firsthand experiences, challenges, and success stories from the farming community. In his closing address, Prof. Dr. M. Arfan Zaman, Principal of CVAS Jhang, thanked industry partners, farmers, and faculty for supporting student-led initiatives and reaffirmed the college’s commitment to innovation in livestock. Awards and shields were distributed to winners, speakers, and organizers, followed by a group photo with all participants. Overall, the event fostered productive interaction between academia, industry, and farmers, fulfilling its goals of education, collaboration, and celebration of the dairy sector.
