HABITAT:

  • Widely cultivated throughout the plains of Pakistan

DESCRIPTION:

  • It is a biennial or perennial herb with erect branched stern
  • Leaves 2-4 pinnate with narrow, linear on subulate segments.
  • 15-20 rayed large umbels of yellow flowers
  • Fruits greenish brown about 0.5 cm long with prominent ridges.

PERIOD OF OCCURRENCE:

  • Fennels are a market-garden cold whether crop sown in October.
  • Flowers are sown in between March to April

  • The crop is harvested from April to May. The plants are cut while in a green condition and left on the ground in the shade to dry.
