Consultative Meeting between UVAS and Punjab Fisheries Department

A consultative meeting was held between the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore, and the Punjab Fisheries Department to explore potential areas of collaboration in shrimp aquaculture. The discussion focused on strengthening capacity building initiatives, including technical training, farmer education, skill development, and joint research opportunities aimed at promoting sustainable shrimp farming in Punjab, Pakistan. Both institutions expressed their commitment to developing a comprehensive framework for mutual cooperation to enhance technical expertise, introduce modern aquaculture practices, and support the growth of the shrimp sector in the province.

Fish Awareness and Educational Visit for Primary School Students

The Fish Awareness and Educational Visit for Primary School Students was organized by Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture aims to promote awareness about the importance of fish in human nutrition and to introduce young learners to the fascinating world of aquaculture. The program is designed to provide school students with an engaging learning experience through interactive sessions, presentations, and guided tours of the department’s hatchery, fish ponds, aquarium, and processing units. By combining education with fun activities, the event seeks to develop curiosity and understanding among children about aquatic life, sustainable fish farming, and the role of fisheries in ensuring food security and environmental balance.
Through event organization, student interaction, and field demonstrations, participants enhance their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while contributing to community engagement. The program not only strengthens UVAS’s commitment to public education and extension services but also highlights the institution’s role in advancing sustainable aquaculture practices in Pakistan.

Consultative Meeting between Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, UVAS and Industry Partners on Internship, Research, and Human Resource Development

A meeting was held between the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), and key industry partners including the Director of Supreme Aqua Feeds, the CEO of Tawakkal Fish Hatchery, and the CEO of the Fisheries Development Board to explore collaborative opportunities in fisheries education and industry linkages. The discussion focused on establishing student internship programs to provide hands-on training and practical exposure, promoting joint research and development initiatives aimed at addressing emerging challenges in aquaculture and fish nutrition, and enhancing human resource development through skill-based training and knowledge exchange. The participants agreed to strengthen academia industry partnerships to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical industry needs, fostering innovation and sustainable growth in Pakistan’s fisheries and aquaculture sector.
