Biography  

Dr. Waqas Ali is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Wildlife and Ecology at UVAS, Lahore. He previously served as a Teaching Assistant from August 2013 to May 2015 and as Lecturer from May 2015 to January 2022. Dr. Waqas Ali obtained his B.S. (Hons.) degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture from UVAS, Lahore in 2012. He earned his MPhil in Wildlife and Ecology with distinction in 2015, receiving a Silver Medal for his outstanding performance. His MPhil thesis, titled was "The Diversity, Distribution, and Phenetic Relationships of Herpetiles of District Kasur," focused on exploring the diversity of amphibians and reptiles in District Kasur. In 2020, Dr. Waqas Ali completed his PhD in Wildlife and Ecology from UVAS. His doctoral research titled was "Genetic Diversity and Habitat Preferences of Amphibians and Reptiles from Selected Sites in Punjab, Pakistan," provided valuable insights into the genetic diversity and habitat preferences of these species. During his PhD studies, he was awarded an HEC IRSIP fellowship, which enabled him to conduct part of his research at the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, University of Adelaide, Australia.
