Biography

Dr. Ali Husnain is a young lecturer in the Department of Theriogenology since 2013. He secured DVM in 2011 with distinction (Bronze medal). He pursued his M. Phil in subject of Theriogenology (UVAS) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad. His work during M. Phil was on “Effect of Control Internal Drug Release (CIDR) and human Chorionic Gonadotropin administration (hCG) on day 7 after fixed time artificial insemination on luteal tissue and pregnancy rate in synchronized Nili-Ravi buffalo”. He has the specialties in reproductive ultrasonography, hormones assays (ELISA & RIA), cryopreservation of semen and advance breeding programs in domestic animals. He also has work experience of Research Assistant in Pak-US HEC funded project on “New approaches of Estrus Synchronization to improve reproductive performance in dairy animals”. Where He got the unique experience to write and run research grants on national and international level. He is also the reproduction consultant of commercial dairy farms. He is member of Society for Animal Reproduction of Pakistan (SARP), Nutritionist Association of Pakistan (NAP) and Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC). His main responsibilities are teaching of Theriogenology courses, clinical case handling, research and farm extension services. He has the vision for the Theriogenology Department to develop a state of the art endocrinology and bovine embryology labs and on country level to launch Progeny Testing Program (PTP) in bovine on community cooperative model.

Area of Interest

  • Reproductive ultrasonography in large animals
  • Improved reproductive management (IRP), estrus & ovulation synchronization and Timed AI
  • Ultrasound guided Ovum Pick Up and In-vitro embryo production (OPU-IVEP) in bovine
  • Post-Insemination interventions for enhancing embryonic survival in bovine
