PPR Vaccination at Ravi Campus Pattoki

Introduction

PPR is a disease that is now seen round the year. This disease effects the major systems of the animal body and infectious in nature. One effected animal can affect the whole herd. It is difficult to treat this infection animal usually dies due to severe dehydration and pneumonia. Almost 50% mortality is seen in the treated animals.

The PPR vaccination camp is organized on 30th May 2015 in the two villages around the Ravi campus.

Activity

Lecture on vaccination and immunization to students of DVM 8th semester by Prof.Dr Khushi Muhammad on 29-05-2015 at 5:00 p.m.
The vaccination activity started on 30 May in very early morning.

Working

The students were divided into two groups .One moved to Gagowala with Dr Abdul Rehman and Dr Ghazanfar and second moved to Adhan with Dr Zahid and Dr Kashif.
Students showed their participation very zealously in the weather was hot. They moved in the village street to street and door to door. They maintain the cold chain and the record during the vaccination.

Vaccinated animals;

The total vaccinated animals in the both  the villages are 2440. The villagers really  appreciated this activity by the University  and they are hoping for such activities in the future. The record of vaccination is maintained for future refrence.

We are greatly thankful to Chairperson CMS Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani who actually motivated us for these extension activities and her responsiveness in these activities; and Dean FVS Prof Dr Khushi Muhammad who designed this PPR vaccine and his lecture on the vaccination and immunization, the real learning.
