DEPARTMENT OF FISHERIES & AQUACULTURE
MISSION STATEMENT:
Department is striving to create an environment that enables teaching and research to attain high
level of excellence and in which its members can exploit their full potential through
experimental manipulation of fish for the betterment of humanity resultantly producing quality
and innovative postgraduates that contribute to the development of National and International
scenarios. Research, development and extension services in this field are thus contributing to
economic and social development of our country. We are aware that strong research provides
basis for booming aquaculture like other livestock sectors. Hence, we are actively pursuing to
become a unique department with the capability to address emerging global ideas and challenges
humanity is facing now or can face in near future with provision of vision and seat of learning.
Facilities Available
:
Under the developme
nt project ‘establishment of Research and Training Facilities for Fisheries and
Aquaculture at Ravi Campus, Pattoki funded by HEC, (32.652 Million) 2005-2007 a new faculty has
been developed. The faculty has initiated the post graduate teaching at the newly established fisheries
research and training center, which has the following components: Research Labs (2), Staff Rooms (5),
Meeting Room (1), Hatchery Building (1), Feed Room (1), Diagnostics Laboratory (1), Fish Ponds (33),
and Residential Facilities for Researcher and Other Workers for their facilitation (4).
