Brief Bio

 

Dr. Aamir Ghafoor is working as a Professor and leading University Diagnostic Lab (UDL) at Institute of Microbiology, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore. He obtained his DVM in 2000 and MSc. (Hons.) in 2005 from UVAS. He obtained his PhD (Molecular Microbiology) from Massey University, New Zealand with multiple awards including RSI award and won three-minute thesis competition.

He has published >30 research article, RG score of 20.6, 706 citations and h-index of 7. He has won multiple research grants from national and international funding organizations worth PKR >20 million. He has supervised one PhD and 7 M.phil. students and attended multiple national and international conferences. Prof. Aamir has recently completed HEC-TDF research project on development and commercialization for first time in Pakistan a highly specific ELISA Kit on recombinant outer membrane protein (OMP) of Pasteurella multocida B2 to detect post-vaccination immune response.

Prof. Aamir is providing advisory services to public sector and private sector. including advisory services to Punjab food authority in 2019 and he was member National Disease Control Committee with PPA from 2017 to 2019. He is also in contact with Government of Punjab L&DD advisory services for milk, meat and poultry sector.

He also assisted Supreme Court of Pakistan for feed testing. Prof. Aamir is actively involved with industry including advisory services to K&N and Sabrosso. He is also an advisor for infection control at Tazij meat and Meat Snacks Company. His expertise are valued among many national and international companies like UM enterprises, ICI Life science division, CAVAC Korean vaccine development company and DOL descon. He is also establishing liaison with University of Melbourne.
