  Introduction

Department was established in 1923 with the idea of generating and disseminating scientific knowledge relating to veterinary & human Parasitology. Livestock is at continuous risk from various parasitic diseases. Master (M.Sc.) degree program was started in 1978 and so for as 110 students completed their M.Sc. (Hons.) and they are serving in various fields of teaching, research, extension, Pharmaceuticals and Private Poultry and livestock sectors. Presently 19 and 13 students are doing their M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees, respectively. Several research projects were completed in the Department. Presently department is running one research project entitled, Epidemiology of Helminthosis in Sheep? funded by PARC-ALP. In future department is going to establish an immunoparasitology Laboratory and to parasite bank at National Level and department is trying best to solve the prevalent parasitic infection of livestock.

Studies on the prevalence and diagnosis of Zoonotic parasitic diseases.
