  Introduction

Department of Livestock Economics & Business was newly established under Faculty of Livestock Business Management. This department was given responsibility to deal with different stake holders of different Livestock Business. In this respect this department has successfully prepared & provided feasibility reports to Livestock farmers and is providing time to time guidance regarding effective management of Dairy farms and fattening farms. The main aim of department is to facilitate business of Livestock sector.

  Other Activities

  1. A seminar on Profitable Dairy practices was organized by the department

  2. Market survey of Livestock Mandies was conduced.

  3. A project for the studies of Livestock Markets will be submitted to the HEC Islamabad.

  4. A Lecturer will participate in ?National Conference on Challenges and Opportunities? offered by WTO Regime in Agriculture at Islamabad.

  5. The Faculty members went to a model Agricultural / Livestock farm of Mumtaz Khan Manais at Vehari.

  6. A project Economic appraisal of Livestock Markets is submitted to SLSP project. 16-Cooper Road, Lahore.

  7. A survey at the occasion of Eid was conducted by the Faculty of FLBM in the Livestock Markets of sacrificial Animals in Lahore. Markets problems were diagnosed.

  8. Livestock Markets Okara Pattoki, Okara, Chichawatni and Sheikhupura were primly surveyed by the staff of the LEBM Department for getting first hand information.

  9. Feasibilities of different Livestock Farms were prepared. Farms were physically visited and technical advice and services were provided to the formers. Large scale Dairy & Beef farming are growing around the city, farmers keeps contact will the Department.

  10. A brain storming conference was held in syndicate room, where imminent scholars of Business Sciences were invited for the discussion on MBA Life Sciences program.

  11. Conduct of Examination of Veterinary Assistant Class at BLPRI Khairrimurat District Attock

  Invited Lectures

  1. A lecture was organized by faculty on ?Practices for Profitable Dairy forming?. It was delivered by Mr. RA patil, a dairy consultant of USA Soyabeen Export Council and General Manager of Warna Cooperation of India.

  2. A presentation was given by Mr. Rana Muhammad Ayyub on ?Suggested WTO rules for Livestock Sector in Pakistan? at the Department of Economics, Government College University Lahore.

  3. A Lecture was given by Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (Dean, FLBM) on National Poultry Conference at Aiwan-e-Iqbal Lahore.

  4. A Lecture was given by Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (Dean FLBM) on Dairy production at Karachi.

  New Academic Department Program Planned

  • PGD (Post Graduate Diploma) & MBA (Life Sciences) a nodal program in Pakistan

  Research Priorities

  • Economic Analysis of different Livestock Production Systems.

  • Identification of potential marketing channels for Livestock and Livestock products.

  • To develop understanding of future needs of livestock related business and industry.

  • Feasibility analysis of Livestock farming versus Crop farming.

  • Identification of constraints faced by the Livestock industry.
