Introduction

The Department was established in year 2002 and is engaged in teaching of courses of social sciences to students of UVAS. Presently the Department is involved in teaching of courses like Sociology, Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies. The aim of this Department is to inculcate, in the students, knowledge of our rural sociology, Islamic values and norms to make them good citizens and professionals. With the initiation of five new degree programs in the University in the current year, the work load of this Department is likely to increase as curricula of all these degree programs are having courses of Pakistan Studies and Islamic Studies. Moreover, teachers of this Department in collaboration with other departments in and University and outside the University are also involved in conduction of various competitions regarding Qiraat and Naat.
