Biography
Dr. Jawad Nazir is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, UVAS, Lahore and holds DVM, M.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Microbiology and Ph.D. in Animal Virology from University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart/Justus-Liebig University, Giessen, Germany. He has 9 years of teaching and research experience. He started his job career as a Lecturer in 2003 from Department of Microbiology, UVAS, Lahore. In 2007, he went to Germany for Ph. D studies under HEC-DAAD scholarship program. He joined the virology lab of the Institute of Environmental and Animal Hygiene, Stuttgart, Germany under the supervision of PD Dr. Rachel E. Marschang and Prof. Reinhard Boehm. Apart from his postgraduate research, he remained involved in the practical trainings and supervision of undergraduate student´s research work in Germany. He also made several publications in highly ranked impact factor journals and participated in 10 international conferences in various countries including USA, UK, Germany, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. He also won best poster award in graduate poster competition in “7th international symposium on avian influenza”, University of Georgia, USA. Presently, he is actively involved in the development of cell cultured based vaccines against animal/poultry viruses. His future research goals are to establish a high-tech cell culture lab equipped with modern tools which will serve as a backbone to perform basic and applied research in the area of virology.
Area of Interest
