Regulations Pertaining to Grant of Fellowship
  1. The fellowships shall be open to a candidate who has Master’s Degree in First Division and wishes to study for Ph.D. degree at the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore.
     
  2. The fellowship shall be advertised at least two months before the beginning of the academic year. The University may specify the subject for research in advertisement, if deemed necessary
     
  3. The application will be considered by the Advanced Studies and Research Boards, which will award the Fellowship
     
  4. If a Fellow does not enroll himself within the prescribed time limit, the Fellowship may be awarded to the next best applicant or may be re-advertised.
     
  5. The tenure of each Fellowship shall, in the first instance, be of two years, which may be extended for such period as the Supervisor, Head of the Department and the Dean concerned may recommend.
     
  6. Grant of fellowship is subject to good work and conduct. Progress report on the work and conduct of a Fellow will be submitted by his Supervisor at the expiry of each term. In case it is not found satisfactory the Advanced Studies and Research Board may withdraw the Fellowship
     
  7. The results of the research work conducted by a Fellowship shall be published by the Author in a manner prescribed by the University from time to time.
     
  8. A Fellowship may be required to write articles on the subject of his research studies.
     
  9. Fellow applying for appointment elsewhere shall apply through the University and not directly.
     
  10. If a Fellow desires to resign or quit his Fellowship before the expiry of the normal period, he / she shall be required to refund all the sums received by him upto the date of his / her abandoning the Fellowship except that in case a Fellow has done some research work, it will be presented to the Committee for Advanced Studies and Research for scrutiny. If he / she found to have completed satisfactorily some aspects of the work, he / she may be permitted to resign or quit his / her Fellowship without refunding the sum already received. The Fellow shall be required to execute a bond before accepting the Fellowship.
     
  11. The form of bond shall be as given in Appendix “A”


    APPENDIX – “A”
    RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP FIDELITY BOND
    The Research Fellowship Fidelity Bond made the ___________________________day of_______________________ between the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore through the Director, Advanced Studies & Research, hereinafter called the University in the First Part of/ Ms._________________________________________________
    the recipient of the Research Fellowship from the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore hereinafter called the Fellow in the Second Part, and the surety for the Fellow’s fidelity hereinafter called the surety in the Third Part, witness as follows:-

    The University undertakes:-
    1.

    To pay the Fellow a sum of Rs. ___________ per annum.
    2. To place at the disposal of the Fellow aforesaid all facilities to pursue the study of the subject being the subject of Fellowship to the extent of its power and resources
    In consideration thereof:-
    1. The Fellow shall devote himself / herself diligently to the study of the subject of Fellowship.
    2. The Fellow shall submit his / her work to the Supervisor appointed by the Advanced Studies & Research Board.
    3. The Fellow shall pursue his / her studies continuously without break, for a minimum period of study prescribed under the rules
    4. The Fellow shall consider that the work done by him / her during the period in which he / she was receipt of the Fellowship shall be the property of the University
    5. If a Fellow desires to resign or quit Fellowship before the expiry of the normal period of study, he / she shall be required refund all the sum received by him / her upto the date of his / her abandoning the Fellowship except that the case as a Fellow has done some research work, it will be presented to the Advanced Studies & Research Board for Scrutiny. If he found to have completed satisfactorily some aspect of the work, he / she may be permitted to resign or quit his Fellowship
    6. If the Fellow willfully neglects to carry out the conditions of the bond, he / she and his / her surety shall be bound to refund to the University all the sums received by the Fellow upto that date.
    7. Advanced Studies & Research Board shall be the sole judge, whether the Fellow has broken all or any of the conditions of the bond and the Fellow shall be bound by its decision.
