To achieve an aim of having quality education and research Higher Education commission of Pakistan took an initiative to launch Quality Enhancement Cells in universities. In first phase, HEC funded and established Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) in 10 Universities of Pakistan. In 2nd phase, UVAS was chosen as one of the 20 institutions to constitute QEC. In 2006, Director Research was assigned the responsibility of Director QEC as an additional charge. Having the vast experience of working in area of quality education, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz established the QEC office in UVAS and recruitment of the staff took place. QEC started regular working during March, 2007, taking time to time guidance from proposals, guidelines and policies of Quality Assurance Agency of HEC. QEC has a manual (proposed by HEC) to initially implement a Self Assessment System for the Universities to evaluate institutional strengths, weaknesses and priorities for improvement in relation to stated aim and objectives

In UVAS, QEC continuously monitors the various practices in curriculum, research, examination, assessment etc and set the plans with an objective to anticipate the emerging challenges in academics, clinical field and research. We mainly focus on developing the best faculty, administrative staff and students and lead in academics, research, diagnostic/clinical realm, administrative and academic planning.
