Secretary Livestock Nasim Sadiq inaugurate Academic block construction work at UVAS
LAHORE (11-01-17): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has started construction work on another Academic Block on its City Campus Lahore.
Secretory Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab Naseem Sadiq along with Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha (SI) inaugurated the construction work. The academic block will be completed in 16 months at an estimated cost of Rs 94.419 million. The block consists of lecture rooms, seminar and conference halls, laboratories, an amphitheatre and faculty offices. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary livestock said that the welfare and development of poor farmers is top priority of the Livestock and Dairy Development Department, so they are being facilitated on their doorsteps across the province. Appreciating the university faculty members/researchers’ support in addressing various livestock issues, especially various animal diseases, he said that it is good that UVAS and the livestock department are working as one team to facilitate poor formers. He said that the various training programmes conducted by the UVAS for the officers/officials of the livestock department have brought positive behavioural change in them. He said that the L&DD Department has regained the trust of the people especially farmers due to its untiring efforts for their betterment.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the new academic block will add value to the UVAS academic and research activities/programmes. He told the contractors that there will be no compromise on the quality and pace of the construction work. He thanked the Punjab government for approving and providing funds for five new development projects of the university.
