LAHORE: (September 4, 2012): University of Veterinary of Sciences (UVAS) Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha has inaugurated the tree plantation campaign titled “Shajar Kari Muhim” by planting a sapling at varsity’s lawn here on Tuesday. He prayed for the solidarity of the country and progress of the university, after planting the sapling.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor said that a greener environment is vital to a healthy nation. He maintained environment friendly plants must be preferred for plantation to ensure a pollution free environment.
Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha urged the faculty members and staff to devise an effective strategy to involve students in the tree plantation campaign. He further said that an awareness campaign should also be launched to motivate the people in this regard.
Business Incubation Center Director Dr Arshad H. Hashmi briefed the Vice Chancellor that BIC plans to plant two thousand plants this year on Ravi campus Pattoki, Para-Veterinary School Karor Lal Eason and the College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Jhang. The plantation of saplings of local species, pines, amaltas, Naeem and jamun would be completed by 30th of September, he added.
Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department Director General Extension Dr Nawaz Saeed, former Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz, former D.G Livestock Balochistan Dr Bashir Ahmad,Dairy Rural Development Foundation Project Director Jack Moser, Nestle Commercial Dairy Development Manager Dr Japie Conradie, Organon General Manager Dr Tariq Mahmood and faculty members were also present on the occasion.
Later, Vice-Chancellor lauded the role of donors who sponsored need based scholarship for needy students who can not afford their professional studies.
